The club options for kids range from Chess Club to the Babysitters Club. All come with a cost and a skill attached.

Pinned up at a local Starbucks was a flyer for a kids Leadership Club starting at first grade. This was a new one for me. That seems like a young age for kids to train to lead.

My youngest daughter was asked to audition for an intense big deal Off Broadway Theater Camp when she was in 2nd grade. There was a good chance she'd get accepted, and then her summer would consist of 9-5 theater rehearsals and classes (not to mention the travel back and forth).

I explained that to her and asked her to think about what she wanted. To be a kid, or to be busy and in training. I am grateful she chose the kid option, we had a lot of fun that summer and continue to do so today.

It's a compliment to be asked, and it's wisdom to choose your life. I believe moms wrestles with this regularly. #ShePrep @bethbacall
